Hijabi Hair Loss Tips

  1. Consult a physician for a health screening to ascertain there are no underlying health conditions that may cause your hair loss.
  2. Consult a nutritionist to ascertain that your diet is balanced and sufficient for your lifestyle.
  3. Based on my body and lifestyle, I take the following supplements: probiotics, spirulina, trace-minerals and l-lysine.
  4. Keep hair length as short as possible, at most above the shoulder.
  5. Wash the hair on alternate days or when the scalp is oily.
  6. Don’t tie damp hair.
  7. Don’t use a headscarf on damp hair.
  8. Don’t sleep with tied hair.
  9. Don’t sleep with damp hair.
  10. Massage the scalp with your favourite organic hair oil before entering the shower as pre-poo (pre-shampoo).
  11. Detangle dry hair with a wide tooth comb before entering the shower.
  12. Wet the hair with lukewarm water.
  13. Using your fingertips, massage the scalp with organic shampoo that is suitable for your scalp.
  14. Rinse off the shampoo with lukewarm water.
  15. Using a dry towel, squeeze water out of the strands of wet hair.
  16. Gently dab and massage the scalp with a dry towel.
  17. Air-dry the hair whenever possible, if not, apply heat-protectant on the hair and blow-dry on the lowest heat setting.
  18. Loosely tie the hair with a scrunchie or fabric-covered hair tie.
  19. Don’t wear an inner cap if possible, if not, use a loose hair cap made out of natural fabric.
  20. Loosely wear a headscarf made out of natural fabric.
  21. Remove the headscarf and untie your hair as soon as you are home and let it breathe as much as possible.
  22. Detangle dry hair with a wide tooth comb before sleeping.
